Soil Stabilisation

In every soil stabilisation the functionality and its constructive property is the base question of how  to develop the total approach of the project. In relation of all other aspects to take into account such as Carbon dioxide reduction, lesser transport or a higher performance of your foundation.

By means of stabilisation we are able to transform the properties of the soil. Depending of the purpose ( for example a temporarily road, or temporarily platform) we choose the right mixture and binders. We create the mixture and binders in such a way that we are able to recycle as much as possible of all the local soil and other outcoming rumble/stone-crush which are available on site.

Constructive stabilisations

To achieve high strengths and bearing capacities for heavy loads and industries using additives and/or higher binder dosages. Preferably with reduced cracking behavior.

Characteristics:

  • Higher dosages of binder
  • Cracking reduction by using special additives
  • No leaching to groundwater levels
  • Water impermeable
  • High bearing capacity
  • High stiffness in relation with high E-Modulus.
  • No excavations trough the stabilized material are possible.
  • Usage of contaminated soil can be possible
  • Lesser asphalt build-up is possible

Lime and/or HRB stabilisations

To create higher bearing capacities of silty soils and soils with a certain plasticity indexation. These stabilized surfaces have a lower stiffness than the constructive group mentioned above.

Characteristics:

  • Hybrid binder systems (combination of different hydraulic binders)
  • Good bearing capacity
  • Excavations trough the stabilized material is possible
  • Water permeability is possible, but very low
  • Good price / quality balance
  • A direct and immediate effect of drying of the soil components (exothermal reaction)
  • A fast alteration of the mineral structure of soils with a content of Clay (plasticity)which increases the bearing capacity in a short time (immediate)
  • A Stiffening / hardening of the treated layer in a short time (hours/days).

Soil improvement stabilisation

Just to improve the soil properties, reducing water content and gaining bearing capacity not much higher than to re-sue the existing soil, often on temporarily bases. Making the soil compactable, and moveable again.

Characteristics:

  • Quick
  • A direct and immediate effect of drying of the soil components (exothermal reaction)
  • A fast alteration of the mineral structure of soils with a content of Clay
  • Immediate result
  • Excavations trough the stabilized material is possible
  • Water permeability is possible
  • Good price / quality balance

Stabilisation with special additives

Terrastab sometimes uses hydraulic binders which not consist of one compound only, but is a mixed cocktail of more than one compound. The specialized additives are used in soils which are more difficult to stabilize. These soils have a higher content of organic substances, like fulco organics acids or carbon acids.

One of the most known additive in the Global Market is the compound called Geocrete® .

 

Geocrete®

Terrastab is exclusive dealer for the Geocrete® additive in the BENELUX countries  and has been working with this additive for more than 15 years in many countries in the world as in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe:

Geocrete® Characteristics:

  • Stabilisation with high performances with first class hydraulic binders and complex additives like Geocrete® in high dosages (7-12 %).
  • Higher compression strength than using traditional binders only.
  • Higher E-modulus compared to traditional binders only (resolving reduced cracking behavior)
  • Can deal with most organic soils and soils with plasticity indexation
  • Prevents leaching of metals and other contaminations.

Possibility to re-use / recycle almost any kind of soil for base and (sub-) base technology.
